We believe we are meant to be stewards of the land and water. History has taught us that agriculture can reduce biodiversity, deplete soil quality and pollute our water.
In order to keep our land healthy and reduce our footprint we employ a combination of soil tests, cover crops, and minimal tillage. Certified Organic since 2012, we limit our use of fertility inputs and disease/pest controls, to products of natural derivation approved for organic production.
We strive to grow a variety of crops – over 130 varieties of vegetables, herbs, and berries in 2022 – and make them easily available through a farmstand, farmers markets, a CSA, and at local grocery stores. We also believe our community should have access to fresh organic food at a fair price, for a good portion of the year. Our high tunnels and climate controlled storage help make local food available during the shoulders of the growing season.
Finally, we strive to grow at the right scale: not too big, not too small. We also mechanize and automate when possible. It is a balancing act aimed at conserving our soil, maintaining a quality of life for ourselves and employees, and ensuring the farms financial viability, all while keeping the food we grow affordable and available to as many people as possible.
